Our little princess is three weeks today. She is learning so much about the world around her. One of my favorite things about motherhood is watching her learn and do something new each day. If she feels one of us putting her down, she will grab our hand or arm (or anything she can grab - shirt, face, whatever) tightly with both hands and stick out her bottom lip. Um, can we say spoiled? But who wouldn't want to spoil and hold this sweetie all day?!:
It's still so surreal to be Grey's Momma. Such a beautiful blessing I never hope to never find myself complaining about or taking one second for granted. She is our miracle gift.
At three weeks:
- You are sleeping more at night. 'More', meaning about an hour or two at a time, but that is a huge feat!
- You are almost too long for your preemie clothes, so we are introducing newborns. Bittersweet, because I know that you will be 18 before I know it.
- You have had congestion for the past few days and nights, which breaks my heart and has sent me into many tearful prayerful moments. The West Texas wind, dirt and dry air are not agreeing with your sinuses. We are grateful that Aunt Carrie is a pediatric nurse practitioner, and has helped us out! Humidifiers, saline and the nose suction thing (what are those called any ways?) have become friends. We have also started holding you all night, so you can breath a little easier. So much for our judgmental "never going to co-sleep" theories. I love how parenting equals a lot of humility. Daddy and I are learning that lesson big time. ;) I hope this is your first and last time to not feel your healthy self though...or at least for a really long time.
- You are starting to enjoy baths more, and fuss less. I knew you had something you took after me for!
- You can grab your bottle with both of your tiny hands, and try so hard to hold it. This always impresses your Daddy and me.
- You can pick up your paci and place it in your mouth without any help. Again, we think every little thing you do is impressive! :)
- You love music! I discovered this when I turned up the TV music the other day and danced around the living room with you. You were bright-eyed and cooing the whole time. When you are a little fussy, I turn up the music, sing (you don't know yet how awful my voice is) and dance. It usually always works to cheer you up.
- Your personality is really starting to show itself. You let us know [quick] if you are happy or upset about something. For instance, I had the suction thing in my hand last night, approaching your face, and you started pouting and covering your nose. It was sad and sweet at the same time. I love your awake times, because you "talk" all the time now. You are responding to voices, music, sounds and expressions. I know they say babies don't smile on cue yet at your age, but I know you've smiled big several times for me when I am smiling and talking to you. I'll just say so anyways.
- Okay, now slow down time a little please and quit growing up so fast!
I am working on completing Grey's baby book and birth-first week album this weekend. We ordered 400 prints (yes, thanks Shuffield Photography for taking ONLY good photos, so I had to order them ALL), and I can't wait to have photos of Grey in our house and in her books. I am simply not a "scrapbook/crafty mom", but I need to at least have her baby book completed. She will get to read about her life on this blog one day. :)
Happy 3rd week of life gorgeous baby. I love you more than you will ever know.

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. Deuteronomy 4:9
I just love your heart Sarah! You are such a great mommy! Grey and Holden are 2 very lucky kids! You are definitely a crafty mom for creating and writing this blog! Grey will treasure it so much and it will never be lost in cyperspace! Plus she will know all about her sweet brother and her sweet parents. Details that you cant even put in a scrapbook! Such a treasure! Keep it up and thanks for sharing! Love you!
